Advancement Roles and Responsibilities
Many people play a role in the successful advancement of a Scout here are the
players and their responsibilities:
Scout
- Work on requirements (rank and merit badge)
- Use your Scout Handbook to monitor your advancement
- Get your book signed (this is your responsibility!)
- Ask a Scoutmaster for and participate in a Scoutmaster Conference
- Ask the Advancement Committee for and participate in a Board of Review
- Ensure Troop tracking and database is accurate (matches your records)
Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmasters
- Plan and provide a good program to assist in advancement
- Encourage advancement
- Monitor troop performance and modify program to fit needs
- Test and sign-off requirements
- Conduct Scoutmaster conferences
Parents
- Encourage and promote self-confidence in your Scout
- Participate in Boards of Reviews (for other Scouts)
- Attend the Courts of Honor
Advancement Subcommittee
- Track advancement (Council paperwork and Troopmaster Database)
- Purchase rank and merit badge awards
- Conduct Boards of Review
- Arrange Courts of Honor
Database Administrator
- Conduct yearly database quality check
