Welcome !

Welcome to Troop 22! We are chartered by Prince of Peace Episcopal Church.  We have been serving Woodland Hills and surrounding communities for over 20 years.

The aim of the Scouting program is to develop youth with character, citizenship and personal fitness.  Our Troop accomplishes this through fun activities like hiking, camping and community service projects. We have fun...with a purpose!  During our tenure we have helped over 60 boys become Eagle Scouts!

Please e-mail us at scoutmaster@bsatroop22.com to arrange to visit one of our meetings.  There's always room for one more at Troop 22!

On Saturday night, Eric Zubiak underwent his Vigil for the Order of the Arrow.  Eric is now a member of a select group who have been chosen to be a part of the Order of the Arrow's highest honor level, the Vigil Honor.  This having been the 40th anniversary Vigil weekend of the Malibu Lodge and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Walika and Tamet Lodges (Malibu's predecessor Lodges), it was a very special weekend at Camp Josepho.  Congratulations to Eric.  I welcome him into the group...Jeff Feldman

As some of you know, Stuart Barney has resigned his position as the Equipment Coordinator (also known as the adult Quartermaster) for our Troop. Stuart has done an outstanding job, and on behalf of the entire Troop, I would like to thank him for his 7 years of service in this capacity!! I am happy to announce that ASM Lonnie Alperson has accepted the position, effective immediately.  Lonnie will be working with myself and Stuart to come up to speed, but please do not hesitate to give him a call if you have any questions or needs. Reminder for Scouts -  please continue to direct all equipment related questions or issues to your Quartermaster, Thomas Eubank.

Gear Head Files #5 - Sleeping Bags & Pads

Posted on Sep 17 2011 - 9:21pm

Ask 5 people and you'll get 5 opinions on sleeping bags and pads.  Synthetic or down?  Mummy or square?  Air mattress or foam?  Add the considerations of weight and price, and a shopper can get very confused.  Try renting a few different styles to see how you are most comfortable, and check out what the other Scouts and Scouters are carrying.  If you want to buy a sleeping bag for backpacking, my own preference is for a synthetic bag, mummy shape, at least 30 degrees or warmer, 3 pounds total weight or less, with both a compression and storage sack provided in the purchase price.  Here's why:
