Las Colinas District Roundtable
Click here for the District Roundtable Newsletters The Las Colinas District Roundtable is held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Woodland Hills. The Church is located at 4501 Deseret Avenue. Roundtable begins with a gathering period from 7:00-7:30 p.m. followed by an opening ceremony promptly at 7:30 p.m. Merits of Attending RoundtableKeep Up with District HappeningsDistrict Roundtable is an opportunity to find out what events are happening in our District and Council. It is a chance to meet with representatives of all of the other Packs, Crews and Troops in our local district. This is where the Popcorn Fundraiser information is given out. This is where the Scouting for Food information is given out. This is where the Camporee information is given out. This is where you find out about Training events like the Carnival of Training in the Fall and the University of Scouting in the Winter. Ongoing Training and InformationLets face it one or two days of training in the fall of your first year with the troop do not necessarily prepare you completely for leading the troop, helping a Scout or performing a specific committee function. Roundtable is where your additional training comes in. By attending ‘roundtable’ each month you will get information on scouting activities planned within the district, learn leadership skills, receive some hands-on scouting skills instruction, and you will also learn how to lead and understand boys. You will get many great ideas on how to improve and enhance your own scouting job. Many times an official training session is run at a Roundtable such as Youth Protection, Safe Swim Defense or Safety afloat. As these training sessions must be renewed periodically, Roundtable is a great opportunity to keep current! |
