Las Colinas District Carnival of Training

Each year in the Fall, our district holds their "Carnival of Training."  Usually a Saturday in September or October, this is the place to get all of your leader training basics!  Typical training courses offered that Troop 22 parents might want to attend include:

Youth Protection Training: required to take scouts on any outing  - 1 hour

New Leader Essentials: basic training for all levels of scouting. The nuts and bolts of scouting. Great training for all parents and leaders.  - 1 hour

Boy Scout Specific Training: After you complete New Leader Essentials this is the training for those interested in becoming Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters - 5 hours.

Troop Committee Challenge: After you complete New Leader Essentials this is the training for those interested in serving on the Troop Committee. - 3 hours

Den Chief Training: This one is for Scouts who are interested in serving as a Den Chief for a Cub Scout Den.  A Den Chief works with the Adult Den Leader as part of the den's leadership team.  It is a huge service to Scouting and an opportunity to fulfill leadership position requirements.  -5 hours

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.  This is the third and final required training session for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters.  Once you complete New Leader Essentials and Boy Scout Specific Training, you are ready to venture into the outdoors to polish your skills in this camping course.  This course is usually run over a weekend and involves two nights of camping.
