As an introduction, Janice pointed out that the troop is run by the PLC.  Since most of the patrol leaders are new to the position, she reviewed the roles and responsibilities of a patrol leader with everyone.  The patrol leader’s primary responsibilities include:

*     set a good example for the others,

*     notify patrol members about PLC decisions,

*     notify patrol members about scheduled duties at the next patrol meeting,

*     track attendance,

*     help with troop advancement,

*     correct any behavior that is not appropriate, and

*     talk to the SPL for advice.

Janice also gave all the patrol leaders a handbook in which they can register all the phone numbers of the patrol members.  The book that Janice handed out also can register the attendance of the patrol members.

Next, the PLC completed the troop meeting plan for the following meetings:

The next PLC will be held at St. Bernadine Church on April 18.  Details will follow.

Camporee will be from April 26 to April 28 and the skill requirements will be practiced during our troop meetings in April.  The meals include dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.

Janice offered a bribe to the patrol that completes the duty roster and menu by 4/22/2002 to a choice of candy bars.

Janice also asked all of the boys to notify the Scoutmaster if they become aware of anybody who is thinking of quitting Boy Scouts or already has quit and didn’t notify the Scoutmaster, so that the Scoutmaster can find out why the boy left or is thinking of leaving.

Another idea suggested for the troop is to provide an opportunity to earn the Camping Merit Badge and the Personal Fitness Merit Badge before the weekly troop meetings.
