Monthly Outings

The purpose of outings is to learn skills, practice leadership & teamwork through fun activities. 75% of scOUTING is the outings.  During the outings our PROGRAM provides opportunities for advancement.  Each month the troop has an outing.  Sometimes this is a day trip but most often it is an overnight camping or backpacking outing.  Troop 22 maintains a yearly calendar.

Annual Program Planning in June

The Scouts begin their annual program planning in June and by September’s Court of Honor we have a printed paper calendar with outings for each month with dates, places, and planned activities.  The Scouts select the outings based on troop interests, troop goals and troop traditions.  In the past, Troop 22 Scouts have planned and run many diverse trips from sailing tall ships to visiting a local air show, from local car camping to backpacking in the Sierras, from a one day fishing trip to a three day tour of San Diego.

Permission Slips and Medical Forms Required

For any Scout to go on an outing, the Troop must have current medical forms (Authorization to Treat a Minor) and a signed permission slip for the outing.  When you join the troop and then again annually in January, the troop collects current medical insurance information for your child.  If your Medical Insurance changes, please inform the Troop Medical Forms Coordinator immediately.  Permission slips for each monthly outing can be downloaded from this website and paper copies are available at troop meetings.
