National Scout Jamboree

What is National Jamboree?

Every four years, Scouts from all over the country gather together at the National Scout Jamboree.   Since 1937, the Boy Scouts of America has held National Scout Jamborees for Scouts and leaders of Boy Scout councils throughout the United States.  Nearly 600,000 Scouts and leaders have hiked the trails, paths, and roadways since the first jamboree was held at the base of the Washington Monument on the Mall in our nation's capital.

The 2010 National Scout Jamboree will be held at Fort A. P. Hill in Virginia -  July 26, 2010-August 4, 2010.

Please visit the National Jamboree Website

The Western Los Angeles County Council will send four jamboree troops and applications are being accepted now. To be eligible to participate in this wonderful experience, a scout must have completed the sixth grade or be at least 12 years of age and a First Class Scout by July 1, 2010. His 18th birthday must not be before August 2, 2010.

Please do not apply directly, apply through our Council.

A limited number of scholarships are available. Scholarship applications must be received by the Council office.

Each jamboree troop will also participate in a tour prior to the jamboree. Tours range from a short 3 days visit to Norfolk and Williamsburg to a much longer tour of the Eastern seaboard, from Boston down to Washington DC. Cost information and tour information will be available shortly.
