Troop 22 Courts of Honor

Click here for details for the upcoming Court of Honor

This year (2006), Troop 22 will hold 2 full Courts of Honor and two mini Courts of Honor.  A Court of Honor is the time when each Scout’s progress, advancement and other achievements are formally recognized in front of the entire troop and all of the parents.  We encourage all families to attend these special days during our Scouting year.

In August we hold our biggest Court of Honor of the year.  During this event all of the awards earned at summer camp are handed out.  All Scout Leaders make oral reports during this Court of Honor.  This includes Patrol Leaders, Historian, Librarian etc.  The new printed troop calendar and Roster are distributed and we usually have a family dinner.  It is a time for fellowship and to kick off the new Scout year.

In November we will hold a mini-Court of Honor.  This small ceremony will take up the first 15 minutes of a regular troop meeting.  We invite family and friends to come to this short celebration of our Scouts' progress.  Advancement will be acknowledged since the August Court of Honor.  There will be no Scout reports or Committee Announcements.

Our second full Court of Honor will be in February.  In addition to formally acknowledging our Scouts' advancement since the November Court of Honor, this full Court of Honor will give our Scout Leaders the opportunity to make oral reports about their leadership jobs.  Again the Patrol Leaders, the Historian, the Librarian, the Quartermaster etc. will make reports.

Our final mini-Court of Honor will be in May and will again be just the first 15 minutes of a regular troop meeting with no Patrol Reports or Committee Announcements.

It is a long trail to Eagle Scout, we need to take breaks now and then to see how far we have come!
