New Parent Buddy Program
WANTED:
EXPERIENCED SCOUT PARENTS
To participate in Troop 22’s New Parent Buddy
Program
Purpose:
To help familiarize new parents with Troop 22:
outings, uniforms, summer camp, parent committee, patrol and troop structure,
advancement, etc.
Program:
- Existing parents with at least two years
experience in the Troop will be recruited to act as “new parent buddies.”
- As soon as a new parent registers their son
in the Troop, the chartering coordinator will give the new parents the name of a
buddy. The chartering coordinator will tell the new parents to call their buddy
with questions, and that the buddy will be calling them a few times over the
next few months to answer questions or just chat. The Buddy will be given the
new parent’s name and phone number.
- The buddy will call the new parent at
least:
- before the scout’s first outing
- within a month of their joining
- prior to summer camp
If you’ve been around Troop 22
and know the ropes, please sign-up to be a New Parent Buddy. It will probably
just require 3-4 phone calls.
